If you participated in our February 2022 tea club, you won’t be unfamiliar with Tibetan teas produced in Ya’an. This tea’s base is a Tibetan tea made from the Lao Chuan Cha cultivar (Sichuan’s native cultivar) in early April 2018.会员笔记 12 条

First time doing a session in many many months as I caught COVID at work in January and have been dealing with long-COVID heart issues. Got a chance to share gongfu for the first time with my parents and sister as they’re visiting. What a wonderful way to enjoy a visit!

Lovely. Still one of my absolute favorites. Forgot I sill had some of this. Definitely one of my favorite teas of all time still. Gardenia flavor is strong but not overwhelming. A lovely start to my Sunday.
What a lovely way to spend a day off!!! And thank you to the TeaPals who, with their beautiful artistic posts, inspired me to do the pic collages.

We used a coffee clever dripper because we only have one clean strainer and wanted to do Western style brewing together. Lots of experimenting in this apartment! The tea is very dark.

We used a coffee clever dripper because we only have one clean strainer and wanted to do Western style brewing together. Lots of experimenting in this apartment! The tea is very dark. The gardenia really comes through in the aroma. The taste is very peppery with a bit of floral peaking through. It's a little sweet, but not nearly what I expected from what Christian told me!
Cold brew! It's a nice golden. It's floral and a bit sweet. It's okay cold, but nothing special. It was much better warm. It lost a lot of the spice notes this way.
The leaves are very dark. The liquid starts off dark amber and shifts golden. There's a lot of debris lining the cup. This is also a good tea! The taste is primarily like star anise and very peppery.

Beautiful balance of gardenia with the tea. The gardenia persisted through at least the six steeping for me. Undertones of clove, mushroom and sweet tabacco.

Beautiful balance of gardenia with the tea. The gardenia persisted through at least the six steeping for me. Undertones of clove, mushroom and sweet tabacco. Minerality started to emerge around the 5th steeping. Also at 5th steeping, I felt a menthol sensation on the tongue. Wonderful tea experience!
This one was an expectation vs reality adventure. Thankfully there is more left! I need to mull this over. I liked it though
This tea is delightful and well balanced. The gardenia flowers give it a hint of a sweet and buttery flavor and it smells amazing.

It was fun to learn about how teas are scented. This gardenia scented tea was very well balanced. It tasted and smelled delightful. I think I would be interested to see how some other teas would taste with gardenia scenting.

This exquisite osmanthus-scented aged white tea is crafted from an EU-certified organic 2013 Gong Mei that was originally exported to Canada. It underwent a traditional scenting process six times using fresh osmanthus flowers, allowing the tea leaves to fully absorb and integrate the delicate floral fragrance.会员笔记 22 条

A day for this lovely tea from MyTeaPal club. 💗💗💗

This is still one of my favorite teas.
I finally was able to get half this tea to Elisa, so we're having it together (over Zoom) today! As always, the berry aroma is strong and immediate.

I finally was able to get half this tea to Elisa, so we're having it together (over Zoom) today! As always, the berry aroma is strong and immediate. The taste is a mixture of berries and sweet bread, including vanilla and hints of some kind of spice. Floral notes are also sometimes present, though usually not dominant. It remains a very pleasant tea! I only have one serving left after this, which is very sad! Elisa is already talking about getting Christian to order more for her if it's still in stock.
This tea remains delicious. It's always interesting to me how different qualities can be prominent in different sessions.

Birthday tea with my mom! It always smells and tastes so good. It's very long lasting too.
As a fairly new experiencer of white teas, this has been my favorite so far. I am also impressed that although I am caffeine sensitive, this tea didn’t give me any jitters despite having the bud.

Overnight cold brew! The color is a deep golden. The aroma is very floral. The taste is immediately floral, but there's a berry sharpness at the swallow. The aftertaste is also a bit sharp.
I love the osmanthus aroma. This tea really holds up well; I had to increase the time consistently across steeps to keep the flavor strong, but it never becomes mineral or bitter.

I did this with my mom, and she really enjoyed it too. My paternal grandmother stopped by unexpectedly and enjoyed trying it, although she's "not a tea person."
Overnight cold brew! The color is golden. The aroma is floral and slightly sweet. The taste is very floral, with some fresh-leaf vegetal, and it lingers. There's also some faint earthiness.

It's surprisingly not sweet despite that being prominent last time. I wonder if it's due to differences in what I put the leaves through before fridging them. I have a lot to experiment with now!
I ordered more of this tea, and I broke it in with a good friend from work! No notes because we were too busy talking, but it was a pleasant hour.

Cold brew! The color is a light golden. The taste and aroma are floral. The aftertaste is subtly sweet nectar and is very good.

This tea was very good but its flavor faded rather quickly. Still impressed a floral tea lasted this long though :)
It’s unbearably hot in NorCal, but I’m gonna have tea anyways. Accompanied by Rilke, I’ve floated through this one.

Jiu Qu Hong Mei literally means Nine-Bend Red Plum, where Nine-Bend refers to the area near the Nine-Bend river in Wuyishan. Close to 200 years ago, some farmers migrated from there to the Dawu Mountain in Hangzhou to grow grain and tea plants.会员笔记 14 条

Strong Osmanthus notes at the beginning leading to honey in later infusions.

It's a very pretty tea, with the visible osmanthus petals. That said, I'm glad I got a new strainer yesterday to help filter the petals out from the cups! The taste was mild but pleasant.

Brewed a 2022 version of this tea for two guests. It was scented in late October, and it’s pretty good. Fewer osmanthus flowers in the dry leaves, yet still fragrant.

The aroma is infused with the tea leaves. I used the group buy 100ml Zhuni teapot for black teas, and it worked well. Some folks have received their teapot and I’m glad to hear some good feedback!

It's interesting; I compared to my other notes and can still somewhat see the dark chocolate, but it's not really reading that way on its own anymore. I wonder if what I'm tasting now is closer to what I was smelling before.
The dry leaves are very small, thin, and dark green with little spots of yellow from the flowers.

Well this was a delight! I’m not sure my tastebuds are fully back yet but never the less this was a very sweet, salty, butter pastry, earthy, rich experience. I kept almost tasting yak butter! Lol.

A pretty pleasant tea. Very punchy flavor but more on the tea side than from the flowers. Perhaps doesn’t need a rinse. Will try that next time.

Session at work today because I moved tables ans now have enough space for it. It is delightful to be sipping on amall cups of tea as I get my work done. The tea itself was pretty interesting. I expected it to taste more floral because of the flower petals but insteas it was gery punchy and earthy.

Drifting Snowflake (飘雪) is a delicately scented jasmine green tea, named for the way jasmine petals gracefully float among the tea leaves when brewed—resembling drifting snowflakes. Made with 2024 early spring green tea, this tea undergoes a meticulous scenting process in summer 2024, where it is infused with the aroma of fresh jasmine flowers five times, each time using a new batch of unbloomed jasmine buds that open overnight.会员笔记 12 条

Quick infusions are a must. Beautiful floral nectar, bright, umami savory. Mouth vibrancy, thick silky infusions. Baby powder texture. Warming body sensation.

Juicy under the tongue, cotton feel ontop. Minty feeling in the breath inward. A sublime Jasmine tea session. A perfect choice for this end of summer weather.
Cold brew! It's very pale green, though darker then it looks in the picture. It still smells like jasmine! The jasmine taste, if anything, managed to get stronger. It reminds me of soap.
I'm usually not a huge green tea fan, but I actually like this one better than the other jasmine tea.

I'm usually not a huge green tea fan, but I actually like this one better than the other jasmine tea. The green tea taste helps keep the jasmine from being too overwhelming while the jasmine does the same for the green tea in turn. It might help that it's a bud tea! They seem to consistently register as much less bitter to me. It's also very pretty! The liquid itself is a pale green, but I really like how the jasmine flowers look mixed in with the long, thin tea leaves. My one compliant is that the tea is so incredibly consistent I felt like I was pouring from the same steep indefinitely. It does accordingly last a long time.
Very consistent
Think that this tea did not have enough Jasmine for me—I’m thinking it will be better after a few months of aging.

Think that this tea did not have enough Jasmine for me—I’m thinking it will be better after a few months of aging. Always fun to hang out with the club members. Had mixed thoughts about this tea. It smelled delightful but didn’t taste quite the way I like my Jasmine green tea, perhaps because it was too fresh. The last Jasmine Green Needle I had was processed in August but drunk in January and February, so I’m thinking that if I wait until the spring, the flavors will have more time to meld together and I will get that delicious Jasmine and Green tea blend that I love.
I am a big fan of jasmine green tea and this one didn't disappoint me!

It was delicious at first, very well balanced between the tea and jasmine flavor, but by my third infusion it began to taste soapy. Perhaps my water temperature or ratio was off. I will try to be more precisse the next time I brew it.
