This is a black tea made from the Mi Lan Xiang cultivar. Usually, spring harvest of dancong tea leaves are made into oolong teas due to the higher market demand and price.会员笔记 10 条

Nice Dancong to start the day. 😊 Honey and orchid and fruity tones.
The one downside to a black set and jian zhan cup is that I can't see the tea colors! This tea is a huge hit. Both my parents loved trying it. It's such a shame no one could order more of this.

The one downside to a black set and jian zhan cup is that I can't see the tea colors! This tea is a huge hit. Both my parents loved trying it. It's such a shame no one could order more of this. I'm sad to run out! I looked online, and I think I'll have to try similar from White2Tea. It's also the only way Elissa will get in on it, and I think she'd love it! In terms of flavor, this tea has been a completely different experience every time I've tried it. This time was more dates, some floral notes, mineral, and surprise mint!
Very lovely! I especially liked how the honey and orchid notes developed as the infusions wore on.

Very lovely! I especially liked how the honey and orchid notes developed as the infusions wore on. Finally finished trying the last of the March club teas. I think this is one of my favorites!
Mother's day tea! The dry leaves are long, thin, and dark. They smell sweet and fruity, like a jam. They turn brown and pick up a strong vegetal aroma when wet. The liquor is golden.

Mother's day tea! The dry leaves are long, thin, and dark. They smell sweet and fruity, like a jam. They turn brown and pick up a strong vegetal aroma when wet. The liquor is golden. The flavors are primarily floral, woody, and blueberry syrup. It's bold and remains strong until the end. It was a success with my mom!
Second brewing lovely tea sweet and smooth
Very nice tea lots of flavours
It's a really pretty tea! It's a deep golden orange. The aroma is very sweet, as is the aftertaste. The main flavor shifts between fruity and mineral.

It's a really pretty tea! It's a deep golden orange. The aroma is very sweet, as is the aftertaste. The main flavor shifts between fruity and mineral. The dry cup adds a nice burnt sugar aroma to the mix on many steeps. I like this better than the oolong! The flavor could be a little stronger, but it's still very pleasant. It's also very robust and long lasting, which is always a bonus in my book.

Eyes - Dry Leaf: black twisted leaves with red highlights Nose - Dry Leaf: roast nuts, cherry, and mangosteen Nose - Wet Leaf: berries and floral arrangements Eyes - Liquor: yellowish, with a tint of peach Mouth - Texture: medium thick and round, juicy Mouth - Taste: delicate cakey/honeyed sweetness, with notes of mangosteen, stone fruit (peach), and orchid. Mouth - Finish: berries and orchid, with some continuation of peach and honey, with a bit of a coating effect Nose - Empty Cup: honey and fruit Eyes - Wet Leaf: brown leaves with red edges Body - Sensation: alert but centered and happy Not as complex as the oolong but much sweeter. Concentrated honey and fruit bomb. Very nice hongcha. A nice Dan Cong hongcha from this month’s tea club!

Very delicious tea, consistent, and long lasting. Reminds me a lot of my favorite roasted tie guan yin, but a darker version of it. Honestly could give this a 5, and very well might once I finish the other two servings. Left me feeling awake, alert, and nostalgic. Rating Criteria: 0.5 - bad, flavorless, or worse very astringent, teabag 1.0 - mostly bad, flavorless, most teabag tea 1.5 - not good, but maybe something to like 2.0 - slightly disappointed, not my kind of tea, but still can appreciate it - probably the worst rating I would give a loose leaf tea (at least one that hasn't turned bad) 2.5 - mixed feelings, like it, but there is something off about it I don't like 3.0 - good, I like it but nothing stand out about it or a very good tea with one critique that holds me back - probably the highest I would give a teabag tea 3.5 - very good, a tea that I was very happy to have but content with what I had, wouldn't seek it out for additional purchase 4.0 - great, very happy with the experience, would seek out for purchase, but only occasionally 4.5 - a favorite, one I love and want very often 5.0 - life will be very sad without it, reserved only for my favorite (roasted tie guan yin), room for more hopefully What a great start to the March teas - I have a feeling I will find some new favorites this month.

Ya Shi Xiang means duck shit aroma in Chinese. This is a relatively traditional Ya Shi Xiang dancong, which is moderately oxidized, rather than the more modern ones that are greener and lightly oxidized.会员笔记 15 条

Overnight cold brew! The color is golden. The aroma and taste are surprisingly floral and vegetal. The aftertaste is bitter that fades into floral nectar.
As before, it's a good tea, it's just light! Even with the higher leaf ratio, it's hard to keep the flavor going. That said, I was able to keep increasing the time to keep it enjoyable.

As before, it's a good tea, it's just light! Even with the higher leaf ratio, it's hard to keep the flavor going. That said, I was able to keep increasing the time to keep it enjoyable. It started off roasted, had some vegetal steeps, and turned nutty and finally mineral. It was a sweet tea. There were some floral and even fruity notes.
There was less leaf left than I'd hoped, so I played around with water to try to balance it better. I'm not sure it worked well, given how quickly it got mild. There was almost no fruit this time.

Lovely Easter morning. This also motivated me to finally get a scale to weigh out the leaf as I tend to be conservative when scooping out and then regret it later.

Duck shit tea!! Beautiful flowery aroma Smooth taste Love it

Eyes - Dry Leaf: beautiful deep brown to black leaves with a purplish-red hue Nose - Dry Leaf: roast wood, salted peanuts, and cherry Nose - Wet Leaf: roast wood and a soft brininess Eyes - Liquor: soft peach liquor Mouth - Texture: smooth, soft, and lush, with an oily texture Mouth - Taste: salted and roasted peanut/peanut butter with a prominent cherry and peach flavor. Charcoal in second infusion. Mouth - Finish: orchid and cherry, moving from dry to exceptionally juicy Nose - Empty Cup: brown sugar, roast nuts, and stone fruit Eyes - Wet Leaf: deep olive leaves with large black and red spots Body - Sensation: relaxing and happy Very interesting tea. Stone fruit notes were much more peach than cherry for this one, though still distinctly Ya Shi. Opening the bag and taking increasingly deep whiffs of the dry leaf as the aroma opens up in my nose reminds me of old times when I used to drink waaaaaaay more Dan Cong. A lovely Dan Cong from Vincent! Caroline and I both independently came to a peach note in tasting 🤣 Very enjoyable!
Overall i like this tea but not sure if i would buy more.
Good, close to a 4, but don't think I would seek out for additional purchase. I like the roast nut flavor. Relaxed body, awake and alert mind.

Lovely golden color. The taste is interesting. The balance between roasted and fruity/sweet notes keeps shifting between steeps.

Lovely golden color. The taste is interesting. The balance between roasted and fruity/sweet notes keeps shifting between steeps. I think if I liked pineapple more, this would probably be a 4.5, since that's what the fruit reminds me of the most strongly. It's also really delicate and subdued in taste, which is almost taunting! That said, it is incredibly long lasting.
Coats the tongue Very sweet Much roast but not overpowering

Mi Lan Xiang means honey orchid aroma in Chinese, referencing its uniquely sweet honey aftertaste with a bright orchid aroma. It’s the most common dancong oolong tea on the market, because its production quantity is the highest among all dancong cultivars in Chaozhou.会员笔记 14 条

So far this is my favorite of the March tea club box.
Using a scale to measure the leaf really made a good difference. Now I just need more time to enjoy my session.
Not so keen on this one. Tried 3 and 5 g gong fu at different temperatures and also western style. Perhaps I don’t like the more oxidised ones?
The color is a slightly brown golden. The aroma is sweet and roasted. We did this tea with our friend M, and he mostly tasted peaches. I got peaches as well, but charcoal roast was prominent for me.

It has a fairly strong aftertaste, which is probably the best part. It can take quite a few steeps and still be pleasant, even if flatter.
My first Dancong ever! It almost made me cry. Strange how much emotion you can get from a cup of tea. Very special this one.
I accidentally confused this tea with the black tea in the original steep, the labels were similar. :)

Two thumbs up! I was surprised how much I enjoyed this Mi Lan. I still prefer Ya Shi in general, but this was an exemplary take on the cultivar.

Trying this one again with regular gong fu brewing! I do like it better this way, although it's still not my favorite. The dry leaves are long and dark. They smell like spiced apples. They get much greener when wet. The aroma retains the corn tortilla notes that I found so odd last time. The taste of this tea is also still not for me. It's largely bitter with some apple. However, the aftertaste is usually very sweet, with some apple and floral notes, and that's what bumped up my rating.

This is a really unique tea. At no point could I predict what flavors we'd get next! It was fun to try, but I think I could do with something slightly more predictable! It's also another tea where my rating would probably be higher if I weren't so picky about certain flavors. It was surreal how much this tea was at points spot on for Mott's apple juice, but I've never been a fan of that juice, and it was really surprising to taste it in tea! The corn notes certainly didn't help either! If Christian hadn't tasted the same, I'd feel like my taste buds are majorly off. Part of me still wonders if some subtle aroma in our apartment threw everything off. I'm really interested to see what others think.
This tea is an experience
