Zhangping, nestled in the southwestern part of Fujian Province, is celebrated as a tea haven in China. Its fertile soil and ideal climate provide perfect conditions for cultivating tea, complemented by abundant wild tea resources that make it one of Fujian’s three major wild tea bases.会员笔记 5 条

Very fragrant, almost perfumy. Relaxing effect
Didn't take notes, I just enjoyed it 😅
Very enjoyable tea. Liked the cream flavor, wish there was more of it. Just the right amount of floral flavor. Not too perfumey.

0 TDS distilled water with TeaCurious Original recipe to make 50 TDS water. Very enjoyable tea. Liked the cream flavor, wish there was more of it. Just the right amount of floral flavor. Not too perfumey. Rating Criteria: 0.5 - bad, flavorless, or worse very astringent, teabag 1.0 - mostly bad, flavorless, most teabag tea 1.5 - not good, but maybe something to like 2.0 - slightly disappointed, not my kind of tea, but still can appreciate it - probably the worst rating I would give a loose leaf tea (at least one that hasn't turned bad) 2.5 - mixed feelings, like it, but there is something off about it I don't like 3.0 - good, I like it but nothing stand out about it or a very good tea with one critique that holds me back - probably the highest I would give a teabag tea 3.5 - very good, a tea that I was very happy to have but content with what I had, wouldn't seek it out for additional purchase 4.0 - great, very happy with the experience, would seek out for purchase, but only occasionally 4.5 - a favorite, one I love and want very often 5.0 - life will be very sad without it, reserved only for my favorites (roasted Tie Guan Yin & Dancong Red), room for more hopefully

This Traditional Style Tie Guan Yin, harvested between May 3 and May 8, 2024, reflects the richness and vitality of the spring harvest. Spring Tie Guan Yin is prized for its robust body and smooth texture, as the tea leaves are rich in nutrients accumulated during the winter dormancy.会员笔记 10 条

I made the 2024 Traditional Roasted Tieguanyin that came in the December MyTeaPal subscription. I was very excited for this month. I really love a roasted TGY. This one did not disappoint! It's so good. I love it. Delicious flavor. Mid roasted tasting, sweet, nutty. I love it. I can't wait to try the 2018 Roasted Tieguanyin tomorrow! 😋
It's wild how different TGY can be depending on the traditional VS modern style. Modern style seems to be more popular among the Chinese market while tune roasted variants are popular in Taiwan.

Depending on if you favor the nutty, cinder notes, or the fragrant floral milkyness, then you are likely to have a pronounced preference for one style or the other. I admit I heavily favor the modern style, but I still found this roasted TGY rewarding and complex!

Harvested between October 5 and October 10, 2024, this Fragrant Style “Zheng Wei” Tie Guan Yin captures the vibrant energy of the autumn harvest in the high mountains of Gande Town, Anxi County. Autumn Tie Guan Yin is celebrated for its floral aroma, as the cooler nights and abundant sunshine during this season enhance the production of aromatic compounds in the tea leaves.会员笔记 9 条

Any astringency or bitterness, not too perfumy I'm glad i bought the last packet of this one ! That month selection was full of good tea. Unfortunately i did not had the opportunity to try the black one, the aged TGY was dope !
Very good. Better then last time. Less leaf but i think the most important difference is the water quality. Wiltered water really makes a difference.
As predicted, my mom really liked this tea!

I prefer this fragnant style over traditional style I brewed yesterday. It's less oxidazed which makes the taste profile lighter, floral, vegetal, creamy.

I'm not a big fan of orchid TGY; we're doing these teas in order from "least excited about" to "most excited about." I can tell this is quality, I'm just not a huge fan of anything too floral.

Exquisite low oxidation Tie Kwan Yin. I think I have more experience than most people with this style of TGY being personal friends with the people who grow it in Fujian and import to Spain.

Exquisite low oxidation Tie Kwan Yin. I think I have more experience than most people with this style of TGY being personal friends with the people who grow it in Fujian and import to Spain. I've had a lot of Anxi TGY from the highest grade and I've had time to ponder about this tea. It's not as rich as a High Mountain Taiwanese oolong. And when you compare it to a Dancong or Yancha, clearly it's wanting in aroma. But people love it nonetheless. A good TGY is subtle but overwhelming. The flavour is not too strong, but once you get past the Vegetable and milky first impression, there's real depth there. A floral bouquet balanced with a sulfuric pungency. It's got a marine character that's not as strong as a kabusecha, mixed with a complex floral profile from its elaborate withering process. All while maintaining a very pleasant mouthfeel and sweet taste. I'm thinking this will be the least liked tea in the club this month. In my opinion, it is an easy tea to like, but a very hard one to appreciate.

Harvested between October 5 and October 10, 2018, this Aged Traditional Style Tie Guan Yin has been stored in Anxi for six years, resulting in a tea of exceptional depth and complexity. Autumn Tie Guan Yin, known for its heightened floral aroma and smooth texture, benefits from the crisp mountain air and sunny days of the season, which concentrate the aromatic compounds in the leaves.会员笔记 6 条

I had the pleasure of tasting this tea during Pascal's session on December 15th and i would be wrong if I didn't acknowledge how much it contributed to my enjoyment! For real, if you haven't attended the club sessions, I think you're missing out on an amazing community of humble yet full of expertise tea drinkers to enrich your view of tea. Now, this tea. It was GOOD, great even I dare say. I am not a lover of heavily roasted TGY, but the aging process had smoothed the aspects I usually dislike and rewarded me with a sweet, spicy and complex experience. This tea had the richness of carobs (locust bean) and barley. It also had a deep, mineral character cut by the roast and fruit and flower aftertaste. The aroma was exquisite, like roasted brown rice and charcoal. But it wasn't a 5 star. Why? Well, it was not dynamic enough for me. The first 3 infusions were the best ones and then it gradually lost steam. I have found out that the best Wulongs can evolve and develop with amazing late infusions (5th to 8th per instance), but this aged TGY did not. So it's a 8,5-9/10 for me, which is a hecking great tea! Not perfect, but who is it?
Delicious. Loved the flavor. The tea made my tongue dry though. 4.1 stars out of 5.
